Donor Recognition – Magee Rehabilitation Hospital

Donor Wall, Donor Plaques & Donor Gifts

After a successful campaign, The Creative Therapy Center and Healing Gardens opened on Magee’s 6th-floor rooftop. Patients can do physical and occupational therapy sessions outdoors. Inside, an extended atrium, a dedicated art studio, and two galleries featuring patients’ artwork.

The concept for the donor wall panel was “A Bend in the Road”. Based on language used at Magee about seeing current challenges as a bend in the journey of life, and not the end. The garden depicts Springtime, because it’s a time of renewal and new beginnings.

The curved pathway is based on detailing used in the Healing Gardens with a view of the Philadelphia skyline. A view is now possible for wheelchair users from the 6th floor terrace.

Donor names are set into a digital print under Plexiglas.

Magee Rehabilitation Hospital provides physical and cognitive therapy for patients in recovery from amputations, brain injury, orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injuries, and strokes. It is one of the highest rated rehab facilities in the nation.

Mark Chilutti, Assistant VP of Development, is passionate about stewardship. He keeps in contact with donors beyond “thank” and “we need help”.

A series of naming plaques were developed based on the symbolic meaning of flowers depicted in the mural. Mark engaged donors to choose which images should be used.

The tiles are attached to Pennsylvania Blue Stone with sandblasted inscriptions of donor names.

Major Donors received “mini mural” gift tiles framed with laser-engraved inscriptions.
